Robots aren't quite as adept in removing debris like screws made of metal or chunks of pasta. They are however great at sweeping dust, pet hair and crumbs. The most effective models come with smart navigation technology and a feature to avoid objects that allow them to maneuver around toys, cords and other household obstacles.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO is a fantastic robot vacuum that has a variety of smart features that make it easier to maintain than many competing models. Its automatic bin emptying is among the most useful features we've seen in a robot and it's compatible on both hard floors and carpets. The app walks you through the entire process. It is also easy to use and set up. Its ability to restart where it left off during our tests is an additional impressive feature. It did this for 77 minutes on one cleaning, and then the battery ran out.
The i3+ EVO, unlike some of the other robot vacuums we have tested, has a self emptying bin that automatically disposes of debris into an external dirt compartment located on its charging base when it is fully filled. The i3+ EVO can be prevented from overfilling with a self-emptying bin. However it must be manually emptied at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's internal dust bin holds 2.4L of trash and is enough to get it through several cleaning sessions before you need to replace it.
This model, like the i7, utilizes state-of-the-art floor-tracking sensors to create maps. It also lets you navigate through neat rows. However, the i3+ EVO only stores one map, whereas the i7 can store multiple. The i7 also has the ability to use its map to create no-go zones and virtual barriers, but the i3+ EVO can't.
The i3+ EVO is more effective of picking up surface debris compared to some other robovacs that we have looked at, but it's not the best in cleaning corners and edges. It's also not as gentle on furniture, despite being fairly quiet. It was quite rough on furniture as it pushed chairs away. It also made some collisions with the sides of the test bed.
2. Black & Decker Q5 Pro
If you're looking to increase your collection of robot vacuums, or are just starting out with the Q5 Pro is a great option. It features an elegant design with a powerful navigation system, as well as efficient automation at a low price. It's the best pound-for-pound model currently available and even beats some of Roborock's much pricier models in many ways.
This robot is fantastic in cleaning floors that are bare and its avoidance technology assists it in staying away from furniture legs and other obstacles. It also excels on carpets and gets an excellent score in our navigation tests. The only issue is that it's noisier than other models, and doesn't perform as well in our owner-satisfaction and predicted reliability assessments.
The Q5 Pro comes with a large dust bin that is 770ml, meaning that you won't have to empty it as often as other 2-in-1 robots. The Q5 Pro's 240 minute running time is also impressive when compared to other 2-in-1 robots that we tested. If the battery is low, it will automatically return to its dock, where it recharges and resumes cleaning where it was when it stopped. You can control the Q5 Pro using the app or voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
This is among the first robots we've seen to incorporate 3D mapping. This along with other advancements, helped it perform exceptionally well in our vacuuming tests and mopping tests. self cleaning vacuum allows you to schedule cleaning times, set no-go zones and see the battery's condition, among other things. The app is simple to use, however it isn't compatible with Apple HomeKit. The feature is scheduled to be added in 2025. As of the beginning of November, Apple has updated a footnote on its website to indicate that this feature will be delayed until 2025. HomeKit isn't compatible with several other robots, however Siri Shortcuts are.
3. TP-Link Tapo RV30 Plus
The Tapo RV30 Plus TP-Link robot vacuum cleaner is an excellent choice if you are looking for a machine that is able to mop and is priced reasonably. It comes with a plethora of features at a reasonable price and has a chic design. You can control it with the buttons on the device using the app, or even by using voice commands. The device is battery-powered and the vacuum container is able to automatically empty itself.
The TP-Link RV30 Plus does a great job at cleaning up normal messes and is suitable for light mopping on hard floors. It comes with a new sweeping brush and mopping cloth as well with a HEPA-filter. It can be used in conjunction with a smart home hub like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant to provide convenient voice control. The TP-Link RV30 Plus can be quickly set up and connect to a variety of floor surfaces with the automatic mode. This will ensure the most effective cleaning results for each area and floor type.

This model utilizes an internal dToF LiDAR sensor to map your home and create efficient cleaning routes. The iMop awed us with its analysis of coverage and navigation efficiency and was also efficient in eliminating obstacles, like furniture. It is also able to find its way to the base station if it is unable to recharge its batteries during cleaning.
It also has a spot cleaning mode that lets you to mop or clean an area of your floor. It can also be programmed to follow a specific route, which is helpful for narrow hallways or stairs. In our carpet cleaning test it did a good job cleaning carpets. However, it struggled to clean carpets and rugs with longer piles. It is able to lift the mop pad automatically whenever it comes into contact with carpet. This is a great option for those looking to avoid having to mop their carpets.
The iMop has an onboard dustbin as well as a water tank, which it is empty at the conclusion of each cleaning session.
